- To support experimentation with new ideas, capture lessons learned from low-risk failures, and elevate OIT to more nimbly respond to evolving customer needs and technology changes. Innovation is also a key component of UCI’s strategic plan and referenced in our campus talent management via Achieve. Innovation is an evergreen OIT cascading goal guiding principal (#5: Foster technology innovation and collaboration with campus and the industry).

- Everyone. It helps OIT remain relevant to the mission of the university. It enables us to benefit our colleagues across campus by introducing new services, systems or products that could add value and improve their experience or the quality of their work.

- How do ideas get approved to start work?
- Work with your supervisor to see how OIT Innovation Time and other resources can help you focus and work on your ideas. If you have a bigger idea beyond your team’s scope, talk with your supervisor and then email the sponsors via oit-innovation@uci.edu about what you might need to move your ideas forward.
- How is this run?
- Everything is self-service and initiated by you and other motivated staff who want to advance their innovations. Review the Process section for more information.
- How do ideas get evaluated for incentives or resources?
- Review the Resources and Celebrate sections to learn how you can request needed resources and be considered for cash awards.
